Elderberries (Sambucus Nigra): Elderberry has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries, particularly around Greece, Scandinavia, Portugal, and Morocco. It’s one of the most common medicinal plants in the world and has been used in folk medicine to treat fever and rheumatism, sciatica, infections, and more. Today, elderberry supplements are mainly used to treat cold and flu symptoms.
Elderberries are rich in antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties. Elderberry intake may reduce the duration of the common cold, as well as upper respiratory infections and influenza.
Echinacea Purpurea: May strengthen your body's immune system, helping you fight colds and flus caused by viruses or bacteria. Echinacea is an anti-inflammatory, supports upper respiratory health, and is a great source of antioxidants.
Cinnamon: Contains powerful medicinal properties. Cinnamon has been used as an ingredient throughout history, dating back as far as Ancient Egypt. It used to be rare and valuable and was regarded as a gift fit for kings.
One study found that cinnamon supplementation could significantly increase antioxidant levels in the blood while reducing levels of markers used to measure inflammation, such as C-reactive protein.
Cinnamon has potent anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.
Clove: High in antioxidants. Also antibacterial, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory to aid in overall wellness and immune system boosting.
The above listed benefits are based on traditional and ancient uses. These may or may not be supported by scientific studies and western medicine philosophy.
